UNCOMMON GROUNDS SYNOPSIS
When his relationship ends just before the holidays, Gio Rossi, an elementary school teacher, and his best friend Marci Morgan, the owner of Lakeview Latte Coffee Shoppe, decide that it may be best to remain single and focus on their careers. During a fun night out together at a restaurant owned by their friend Cory Zinder, Marci showcases her vocal talent during an “open mic” session while Gio strikes up a conversation with a handsome server named Javi Garcia.
Marci decides to pay no attention to the rumors that Ken Maxwell, owner of the large coffee chain Best Blends, intends to open a store in Lakeview and sets out to hire an additional employee to deal with her booming business. While working closely with his students on their short stories about their families, Gio reflects on his strained relationship with his mother and debates whether or not to reach out to her. Living with his widowed sister Carmen and her son Eddie, Javi makes the decision to get a second job to help with increasing expenses and applies to work at Lakeview Latte with Marci, who immediately hires him. When Gio visits the coffee shop with his principal Clint Anderson, Marci takes an interest in Clint while Gio and Javi reconnect. As both pairs grow closer, Marci receives a shocking offer and Gio’s ex-boyfriend makes a move to win him back. |
